Checking Out the WaKeeney City Library

There’s nothing like digging into a great page-turner on a quiet afternoon. From the classics to pulp fiction, from mystery to romance; novels carry us away to other worlds and sets our imaginations free. At the WaKeeney City Library you’ll find thousands of opportunities to escape into a good book, and many more adventures, too!


The Library’s collection is constantly being updated with the latest bestsellers in fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, poetry, and reference books in traditional and large print novels, inter-library loans, audio and E-books (available through our partnership with the Kansas State Library). No matter what you’re looking for our librarians can get you access to your favorites.

A modern day library isn’t only a place for casual reading. In today’s world libraries have evolved into an adjunct business center, too. Public use computers with free Internet access and printers are available at ours for those who need a place to get online, and a copier and fax machine are also available (fees apply for copier and fax use).

Peruse local, regional, and national newspapers, periodicals and magazines in the library’s archive. It contains decades of the most popular publications. Movies are available to rent through the library, too, with every genre from the Silent Age to the latest Hollywood releases available.


The WaKeeney library hosts reading programs and story time hours for adults and children throughout the year, and special events are regularly scheduled in the community room. There’s always something going on at the library!
