For over a hundred years the Trego County Free Fair has been the grand event of summer in our community. The rides, the bright lights, the music! Well, all your favorite fair events are back again this year, plus, lots more!
Four Nights of Music on the Free Stage
Put your dancing boots on and kick up your heels to four nights of music outside, under the stars at our free stage!
State Line Drive Band (Wed. July 27) – The country-pop group, State Line Drive Band, comes from Kansas City and have garnered many fans across the state.
80s DJ (Thurs. July 28) – Roll your jeans and tease your hair because the 80s are featured on our dance patio when the DJ spins the top forty from the “decade of decadence.”
Three x Seven (Fri. July 29) – Hometown band, Three x Seven, will be playing all the best rock music from the 1960s to the present. From Led Zeppelin, to the Foo Fighters, lovers of rock will be “livin’ for the weekend!”
Wrong Way Jack (Sat. July 30) – Fun music and good times always follow Wrong Way Jack. He combines “southern groovy rock and dirty metal country” to turn out one rip-roarin’ good time!
The Pride of Texas Carnival (Wed. July 27)
The Pride of Texas carnival will come to life on the Midway with games, food, and over 20 wild rides designed for all ages. Thrill seekers will love the Tornado, Vertigo, and the Kamikaze and little kids can take a whirl on the carousel or merry-go-rounds featuring tractors, jeeps, motorcycles, or ATVs. And for those who love the traditional carnival rides, the Pride of Texas has saved a seat on the Ferris wheel just for you!
Cody Johnson in Concert (Fri. July29)
Cody Johnson, with his deep baritone and love of outlaw country music, rose to fame fast with his first album, Cowboy Like Me. Now, with four albums under his belt buckle, he is well equipped to put on a great show inside our fairground’s grandstands.
The Trego County Fair Parade (Sat. July 30)
Get out the lawn chairs and follow the crowd to Downtown WaKeeney for the Trego County Fair Parade. From bicycles to tractors, the parade is jammed packed with fun for the whole family. There’ll be horses, dancers, antique cars and farm equipment, and you might even spot a friend from your high school days riding on one of the TCHS class reunion floats!
There’s much, much more to experience at the 2016 Trego County Free Fair. Check the official schedule for more information about activities for the kids, a fair sponsored Cowboy church service, Bucket Calf Bingo, and the Muddy Pig Brawl.
We’ll see you on the Midway at the Trego County Free Fair!
