Ah—the smell of gasoline, the roar of engines; the sweet taste of victory and the agony of defeat. It must be the start of the 2016 racing season at the WaKeeney Mini Speedway!
Pint-sized racers from across the country are getting their karts ready for another season of racing on WaKeeney’s oval, dirt track. This season’s inaugural race is this weekend and it’s sure to be a nail biter, with returning drivers fighting for their titles against the newest group of racing stars.
Several different classes are featured at each race, so everyone who loves fast karts are welcome to come out for fun and competition.
Rookie (age 6-8)
Junior 1 Clone – Light and Junior 1 Clone – Heavy (age 8-12)
Junior 2 Clone – Light and Junior 2 Clone – Heavy (age 12-15)
Adult Stock Heavy class (aged 16 and over)
Clone Heavy class (aged 16 and over)
This year’s season kicks off this Saturday, and runs throughout the summer to its grand finale in October. A banquet for the families will be held to award the season’s point trophies, and don’t forget to join us for the Teryn Haremza Memorial Race on September 23rd and 24th.
Come out this weekend to see the drivers take to the track Saturday for the first race of the 2016 season at the WaKeeney Mini Speedway. Join us in the stands and around the track with free entry for the public, or you can purchase a pit pass to visit the drivers and see their karts up close beginning at noon. Hot laps start at 1pm and the checkered flag initiates the first races at 2pm. Check their schedule for track rules, racing fees, and the dates and times of the 2016 season races.
