The time has come to sit down and write a list of all the Christmas presents I’ll be buying to give to people in my life this holiday season. I know some have specific requests I’ll be filling, but for some special people I want to give them something extra special. For those gifts I turn to The Studio & Kansas Art Gallery in Downtown WaKeeney, where I can create something straight from the heart.
Filled with all the best art supplies and brimming with all the possibilities your creative mind can develop, the Studio is a place where your dreams can be brought to life through textiles, glass, decoupage, paintings, pottery, paper and much more. Inspiration lives upstairs in the Kansas Art Gallery, where local Trego County artists show off their talents in quilting, candle making, jewelry, and paints, including noted artist, Bobbi Kerth, and her series of Santa paintings. Kansas themed gifts are scattered throughout the gallery, so if you’re looking for those cute ruby red bedroom slippers for your favorite girl you’re sure to find them inside the gallery.
Studio space is set up at the back of the store and down in the basement, where a long arm-quilting machine is located and every supply you’ll need is available. All you have to bring is your creative side and owner, Lynelle Shubert will be sure to have the rest ready for you. “I love when people come in thinking, they aren’t artistic then realize they’ve created a beautiful piece of art that they’ll treasure forever.”
This year when you’re looking for the perfect gift why not look deep inside yourself and create something that is as unique as the person you’ll be presenting it to on Christmas Day. Call ahead to set up an appointment in the studio, or make it a party and plan an event for all your friends, family, or co-workers. All the supplies will be waiting for you and clean up is provide by The Studio. All you need to bring is your creative spirit!
